history
The earliest written document is from 1322 and reads "Retschein". The name goes back to the Slovenian recina (river water).
Geographical location
The Rittschein is created by the confluence of the 2.17 km long Schlarpfenbach in the 6.5 km long Mayerbach in the municipality of Markt Hartmannsdorf . The course leads through the communities of Ottendorf an der Rittschein , Breitenfeld an der Rittschein , Söchau , Übersbach (municipality of Fürstenfeld) and Bad Loipersdorf . Shortly after the transition into Burgenland , the Rittschein flows into Königsdorf as a right tributary into the Lafnitz .
