The Günser road B 61 is a main road in Austria . It runs over a length of 12.9 km from Oberpullendorf to the state border in Hungary near the town of Kőszeg , which is called Güns in German and has given the street its name.

history

The Günserstrasse originally ran in a north-south direction from the state border at Neckenmarkt via Horitschon , Großwarasdorf and Unterpullendorf to the state border at Mannersdorf an der Rabnitz . It was part of the imperial road that led from Pressburg via Ödenburg to Varaždin .

This route was added to the Austrian federal road network in 1923. After the annexation of Austria , this road was converted into a 1st order country road on April 1, 1940 as part of the standardization of the road system and designated as LIO 65. On March 23, 1942, the southern section between Unterpullendorf and Mannersdorf was declared part of Reichsstraße  405 by a decree of the General Inspector for German Roads . Since January 1, 1949, Günser Strasse has again been part of the network of federal highways in Austria .

Since September 1, 1971, only the southern section of the route between Unterpullendorf and Mannersdorf has been used as a federal road, while the northern section of the route has been graded as a state road.

The Günser road was like the other former federal roads in the federal administration. It has been under state administration since April 1, 2002 and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name of the federal road.
