The Braun Straße (B 147) is a country road in Austria . It runs over a length of 43.5 km through the Mattig Valley in the lower Innviertel .

course

It started in Straßwalchen in Flachgau . From there it leads - following the Mattigtalbahn - along the Mattig via Mattighofen to Braunau am Inn . It affects extensive forest areas such as the Kobernaußer Wald and the Lachforst .

history

The Braunauer Straße between Braunau, Ried im Innkreis and Lambach was one of the federal highways established by the federal law of July 8, 1921. Until 1938 this federal road was designated as B 46, after the connection with Austria it was run as Reichsstraße  340 . The Innviertler Strasse from Braunau via Ried to Wels replaced Braunauer Strasse on July 1, 1964.

The Mattighofner road between Braunau and Straßwalchen also one of the main roads that have been set by the Federal Law of July 8, 1921st Until 1938 this federal road was designated as B 40, after the connection of Austria it was no longer run as a Reichsstrasse , instead it was declared a state road of 1st order on April 1, 1940 and designated as LIO 4. Since April 1, 1948, Mattighofner Strasse has once again been part of the network of federal roads in Austria .

From 1971 (Federal Roads Act 1971, Directory 2) to 1983 the official street name of the road leading from Straßwalchen via Mattighofen and Uttendorf to Braunau was already S 10 Braunauer Schnellstraße . A new expressway was planned during this time, but ultimately not built. Therefore, with the amendment to the Federal Roads Act of February 9, 1983, the road was included as the new federal road 147 with the designation Braunauer Strasse in directory 3, federal roads B.

On April 1, 2002, it was transferred to state administration, legally the Salzburg and Upper Austrian sections are two streets.

expansion

The Mattighofen – Munderfing bypass has been in planning since 2013 ; it should relieve the city of Mattighofen . For this purpose, it will be moved from the center to the eastern edge and will be connected to the northern outskirts near Schalchen (today's km 18.8). As far as Munderfing , it runs almost 500 meters east of the current road and then draws a wide arc around this place so that it is also freed from through traffic. To the south, at km 11.0, the bypass joins the current course. The bypass is expected to be built in 2015.

B147  Like the other former federal highways, Braunauer Strasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
