Course of the road

The Danube Canal Road B227 is a main road B in Vienna and former federal highway . It runs in separate lanes along the Danube Canal and connects the city center of Vienna with the north bridge ( A22 ) in the north and the Prater junction ( A4 / A23 ) in the south. The individual sections are often called lands (e.g. Weißgerberlände ). In the section between the north bridge and the belt bridge , the B227 has the status of a motor road and is level.

history

The road was once planned as the Danube Canal Expressway S2 and should lead from the Prater junction over the north bridge to Stammersdorf . For highway only the north bridge and the distance to the belt bridge was expanded. The rest of the street was run as the Danube Canal replacement road B302 . With the amendment to the Federal Roads Act in 1983, the road south of the Belt Bridge was designated as B227, with that of 1986 the S2 was deleted.

Due to the Federal Road Transmission Act of 2002, the north bridge, including the connecting motorway to Brünner Straße (B7) in Floridsdorf , was upgraded to a motorway and added to the Danube bank motorway (A22). The rest of the B227 was transferred to the state administration like other previous B federal highways.

Individual evidence

  1. Ordinance of the municipal council regarding the determination of the main streets and side streets
B227  Like the other former federal highways, Donaukanal Strasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
