The Altheimer road (B 148) is a national road B in Upper Austria , former federal highway and part of the European Route 552. It leads to a length of 36.6 km along the Inn by the Innviertel . The starting point is Altheimer Strasse on the Innkreis Autobahn (A 8) at the Ort im Innkreis junction and leads via Altheim to the state border to Germany at Braunau am Inn .

history

Both the Braunauer Straße between Braunau, Ried im Innkreis and Lambach and the Obernberger Straße between Altheim and Suben belonged to the federal highways established by the federal law of July 8, 1921. Until 1938 Obernberger Straße was designated as B 49, after the connection of Austria it was led as Reichsstraße 340 . From April 1, 1948, both roads were again part of the network of federal roads in Austria . In 2002 it was transferred to the state administration.

The Innviertler Strasse from Braunau via Ried to Wels replaced Braunauer Strasse on July 1, 1964. According to the Federal Roads Act of 1971, the Innviertler Schnellstrasse S 9 was to replace the Innviertler Strasse between Ried and Braunau. However, this expressway was not built, so on March 1, 1992 a new federal highway B 148 was set up between Braunau and Altheim.

B148  Like the other former federal highways, Altheimer Strasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
