Obernberger Strasse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The upper Straße (B 142) was a federal highway in Austria , on the banks of the Inn along by the Innviertel led and thus a link between the major international thoroughfares passing through Braunau and Schärding led enabled. The Obernberg am Inn market , after which this street is named, was of great economic importance in the 19th century before it was cut off from traffic by the construction of the railway.

history

The Obernberger Reichsstraße between Altheim and Schärding was already one of the Reichsstraße in the 19th century, which was built and maintained at the expense of the state. It ran for a length of 27.7 km along the Inn through the Innviertel . On May 1, 1911, the third oldest bus line in Upper Austria ran between Altheim and Antiesenhofen , because plans to build the railway had repeatedly failed in the previous decades. This bus line was discontinued during the First World War and only reopened on July 22, 1925.

Obernberger Strasse was declared a federal road by the federal law of July 8, 1921. Until 1938 Obernberger Straße was designated as B 49, after the connection of Austria it was no longer run as a Reichsstraße . Since April 1, 1948, Obernberger Straße has again been part of the network of federal highways in Austria . Its total length was now 40 km after it was extended via Mauerkirchen to Uttendorf.

On March 1, 1992 it was replaced by the new B 148 between Altheim and the Innkreis Autobahn (A 8) , which is known as Altheimer Strasse . The northern section of the route between Schärding and the Innkreis Autobahn has been known as Subener Strasse  ( B 149 ) since January 1, 1994 , while the section parallel to the A 8 between the town and the Suben junction is now Antiesenhofener Strasse  L 522.
