The Retzer road B 35 is a main road in Austria . It runs over a length of 60.4 km from Krems an der Donau through the Weinviertel to the state border to the Czech Republic near the eponymous city of Retz .
The Retzer Straße begins in the west of Krems and leads from there - first in the north of the city, later along the Absdorf - Krems railway line into the Kamptal . From here it continues past the Manhartsberg to Maissau before turning north. At Pulkau, Retzer Strasse crosses Pulkautal Strasse B 45 and runs via Retz to the state border with the Czech Republic.
history
The first section of the route between Krems and Hadersdorf am Kamp was created in 1821 by a private community of interests ("Concurrenz") of the neighboring estates and municipalities, which was allowed to levy a toll for 50 years from May 1, 1821. In 1824 this street was extended as Stockerau-Kremser Straße to Stockerau .
The district road from Znojmo to Krems was opened to traffic on May 1, 1841. It had two toll booths at the two city gates in Retz. This road, which "led from Hadersdorf via Maißau, Pulkau, Retz to Knadlersdorf on the Moravian border against Znaim ", is one of the 17 roads that were declared in 1866 as Lower Austrian state roads. The Lower Austrian state road law of April 19, 1894 no longer uses the term state road, the previous state roads have been converted into first class district roads.
After the annexation of Austria , this road was divided into several 1st order country roads as part of the standardization of the road system on April 1, 1940 :
- The LIO 3 ran from Krems via Hadersdorf to Stockerau
- The LIO 17 ran from Hadersdorf via Straß to Hollabrunn
- The LIO 18 ran from Straß via Pulkau and Retz to Znaim
On March 23, 1942, the entire Krems - Znaim line was declared part of Reichsstraße 343 by a decree issued by the General Inspector for German Roads .
The Retzer road was elevated to the main road on January 1, 1949 and originally led by Horn about Pulkau Retz and to the state border.
The Eggenburg-Hadersdorfer street belongs since 1 April 1959, the network of federal roads in Austria .

B35 | Like the other former federal highways, Retzer Strasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße. |
