The Weißenseestraße (B 87) is a country road in Austria . It leads from the Drautal over the Kreuzbergsattel in the Gailtal Alps into the Gailtal and has a length of 26.7 km. The street takes its name from the Weißensee , which the street passes at its western end.
history
The Weißenseestraße heard since 1 October 1972 to the network of federal roads in Austria . It was created from the connection of two former state roads:
- The 18.7 km long Gitschtaler Straße has been part of the network of Carinthian state roads since January 1, 1872. After the annexation of Austria , this road was converted into a first order road on April 1, 1940 as part of the standardization of the road system and designated as LIO 5.
It was referred to as Kärntner Landesstraße No. 24 until 1972 and led from Hermagor via Kreuzberg to Weißensee Straße at the Kreuzwirt.
- The 14.5 km long Weißensee Straße was known as Kärntner Landesstraße 7 until 1972 and led from Greifenburg via Techendorf to Neusach am Weißensee. Since 1972, the 6.6 km Techendorfer Straße has only started at the Kreuzwirt on the federal road.
