The Simmering road B228 is a main road B and former federal highway in the Viennese districts Landstrasse and Simmering . It leads from Schlachthausgasse ( B221 ) to Zinnergasse ( B14 ) and runs parallel to the Ost Autobahn (A4).

The B228 is currently mostly on a provisional route. It is only of greater importance in the area of ​​the St. Marx ( A23 ) and Simmeringer Haide ( A4 ) junctions . The traffic volume is relatively low along the rest of the route. Expansion plans provide for a new route between Franzosengraben and 1st Haidequerstraße and between 7th Haidequerstraße and 11th Haidequerstraße. The B228 would thus lead almost in a straight line through the 11th district.

B228	Like the other former federal highways, Simmeringer Strasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße.
