The Simmering road B228 is a main road B and former federal highway in the Viennese districts Landstrasse and Simmering . It leads from Schlachthausgasse ( B221 ) to Zinnergasse ( B14 ) and runs parallel to the Ost Autobahn (A4).
The B228 is currently mostly on a provisional route. It is only of greater importance in the area of the St. Marx ( A23 ) and Simmeringer Haide ( A4 ) junctions . The traffic volume is relatively low along the rest of the route. Expansion plans provide for a new route between Franzosengraben and 1st Haidequerstraße and between 7th Haidequerstraße and 11th Haidequerstraße. The B228 would thus lead almost in a straight line through the 11th district.
Along the route are among others the subway - depot Erdberg , the Gasometer , the disposal Simmering and the main purification plant Vienna .

B228 | Like the other former federal highways, Simmeringer Strasse was part of the federal administration. Since April 1, 2002, it has been under state administration and continues to have the B in the number, but not the name Bundesstraße. |
