Le Lion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Le Lion is a half marathon that has been held between the French cities of Belfort and Montbéliard since 1984 . In odd years, it runs from the Faubourg de Besançon in Montbéliard to the Place de la Révolution in Belfort below the citadel , in even years in the opposite direction. The villages of Sochaux , Vieux-Charmont , Nommay , Châtenois-les-Forges , Trévenans , Sevenans , Andelnans and Danjoutin are passed. The organizer is FC Sochaux Montbéliard Athlétisme, an athletics club that emerged from FC Sochaux .

The name Lion is derived from the Belfort lion and the lion in the logo of the vehicle manufacturer Peugeot , which has its main plant in Sochaux.

The 1995 World Half Marathon Championships were integrated into the event, as were the French Half Marathon Championships in 1994, 2001 and 2013.
