Isabella Ochichi

Isabella Ochichi ( Isabella Bosibori Ochichi ; born October 28, 1979 in Kisii , Nyanza Province ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

First, she competed in road races , finished eighth at the 2001 World Half Marathon Championships and won gold with the Kenyan team.

In 2002 she won bronze at the World Cross Country Championships on the short distance, and the following year she finished fourth. At the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis, she was sixth in the 5000 meter run .

In 2004 she finished fifth on the short course of the World Cross Country Championships, and in the Carlsbad 5000 road race she covered the 5 km in 14:53 minutes, only two seconds slower than Paula Radcliffe in her world best time at the time. At the 2004 Golden League meeting in Paris , she won the 3,000 meter run in 8: 31.32 minutes, which was also the world's best time for the year.

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens she won the silver medal over 5000 meters over 5000 meters in 14: 48.19 minutes behind Meseret Defar (ETH) and in front of Tirunesh Dibaba (ETH).
