Rachel Sarah Bilson (born August 25, 1981 in Los Angeles ) is an American actress who had her breakthrough with the role of Summer Roberts in the television series OC, California (2003-2007). From 2011 to 2015 she played the leading role Dr. Zoe Hart in the series Hart of Dixie .

Career

Rachel Bilson grew up in Los Angeles with her older brother. Her father is Danny Bilson , and her grandfather is the film director, film producer and screenwriter Bruce Bilson . Her parents divorced when she was nine years old. In 1997 her father married the actress Heather Medway , with whom he has two other daughters (* 2001, * 2007).

Bilson graduated from Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles in 1999 . During her high school years she starred in several plays there. With the support of her parents, she was able to be included in the cast of The Wrong Guys . Shortly thereafter, she was also seen in the fantasy series It's True , which was canceled after a short time due to poor audience ratings. She had her first lead roles in the plays Bye Bye Birdie , The Crucible and Once Upon a Mattress . In addition, she was seen in various commercials, including for Subway .

Bilson had her first television roles in 2003 in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and My Wild Daughters . This was followed by a leading role in the film Unbroken . She gained international fame through her impersonation of Summer Roberts in the Fox series OC, California . Although her character was initially created only as a supporting role, she was part of the main cast from the 14th episode of the first season. Overall, she was seen in all 92 episodes of the series between 2003 and 2007. At the Teen Choice Awards 2005 , Bilson received an award in each of the categories "Choice Hottie Female", "Choice TV Actress (Drama)" and "Best Onscreen TV Chemistry". In 2005 she was listed as sixth in the top 100 list of Maxim (magazine) and in 2006 she was ranked 28th among the “100 Sexiest Women in the World” by FHM magazine .

In the same year, Bilson played the role of Kim in the film The Last Kiss on the side of Scrubs actor Zach Braff . In 2008 she was in the movie Jumper alongside Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson to see. From September 2011 to March 2015, Bilson played the central lead role in The CW series Hart of Dixie . She was also featured in four episodes of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother between 2010 and 2014 .

Bilson has been the official face of the Magnum advertising campaign since March 2011 .

The ABC crime series "Take Two" (2018) with Rachel Bilson was discontinued after a season.

Private life

Bilson met actor Hayden Christensen in 2007 , to whom she became engaged in December 2008. At the end of October 2014, the two parents had a daughter. Her pregnancy was carried over to her role in Hart of Dixie as well. The couple split in 2017. She has been in a relationship with Bill Hader since January 2020 .
