Valentina Mikhailovna Egorova
Valentina Michailowna Yegorova ( Russian Валентина Михайловна Егорова , English transcription Valentina Yegorova ; born February 16, 1964 in Isederkino , Chuvashia ) is a Russian long-distance runner and Olympic champion .
Egorova won the silver medal in the marathon at the European Athletics Championships in 1990 in Split .
At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , the Russian, who started for the CIS team , won the gold medal in the marathon ahead of Yūko Arimori (JPN) and Lorraine Moller (NZL). At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , she also won the silver medal in the marathon behind the Ethiopian Fatuma Roba (ETH) and ahead of Yūko Arimori.
She set her best time of 2:23:33 h at the 1994 Boston Marathon when she finished second behind Uta Pippig . In 1993 and 1994 she won the Tokyo International Women's Marathon and 1999 the Nagano Marathon .
