history
Schwarzau Castle is located in the village, where Empress Zita and Emperor Karl married on October 21, 1911. Today the castle serves as a penal institution for women.

After the 2020 municipal council election, ÖVP candidate Evelyn Artner received 10 out of 19 votes at the constituent meeting. After the ten MPs of the SPÖ resigned their seats and the substitute candidates renounced the vacant seats in the municipal council, a new ballot was necessary.
