Bürg-Vöstenhof is a municipality in the Neunkirchen district in Lower Austria .
geography
Bürg-Vöstenhof is located in the southern industrial district in Lower Austria, north of the Schwarza valley . The area of the municipality covers 25.12 square kilometers. 85.26 percent of the area is forested. Most of the municipality is located on the Gahns , which means that only 3.39 km² (13.5%) can be used as permanent settlement area.

history
The first demonstrable settlement of the Burg-Vöstenhof area took place in the 12th century by the Bavarians and Franks. The first stone houses date from the 15th century. Only Catholics lived in Bürg-Vöstenhof. The area still belongs to the Pottschach parish today .
The history of the place was mainly shaped by the lords of the “Festes Hof” ( Vöstenhof Castle ). The oldest part of the castle dates from the 13th century.
Vöstenhof was subordinate to the lords of the castle, while the area of Bürg was under the rule of Stixenstein, Schwarzau am Steinfeld and Pottschach.
With Maria Theresa's school reform, the children went to the schools in Pottschach and Prigglitz.
The municipality of Vöstenhof was established in 1848. On March 2, 2001, the community name was changed to Bürg-Vöstenhof.

According to the data of the 2001 census , 76.1% of the population are Roman Catholic and 8.0% Protestant . 1.7% belong to Orthodox churches . 13.1% of the population have no religious denomination.

economy
In 2001 there were 2 non-agricultural workplaces. According to the 1999 survey, there were 21 agricultural and forestry holdings. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in employment at the place of residence was 87. The employment rate in 2001 was 51.13 percent.
