The Granitzenbach is about 33 km long flowing water in the Seetal Alps in the mountainous west of Styria (Austria). It flows into the Mur between the district capital Judenburg and Knittelfeld .

The upper course called Schmelzbach rises a good 5 km north of the Zirbitzkogel , which is 2396  m above sea level. A. highest peak in the Seetal Alps , and already occupies a water-rich catchment area of around 30–40 km². The stream first flows eastwards, then in a ditch that begins below the mountain village of Sankt Wolfgang-Kienberg , and now south-eastwards past the elongated Granitzen (approx. 1400 m) over Rötsch to the local area of Obdach (877 m).

A little to the northwest of the Obdacher saddle , the river turns north for the last 20 km, passes Deixelberg and Eppenstein Castle , and finally reaches the upper Mur Valley near Weißkirchen . Here the now stately water flows into the Mur at Zeltweg .
