St. Wolfgang-Kienberg is a former municipality with 372 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) in the Austrian state of Styria . Since 2015 it has been merged with the communities of Amering , Sankt Anna am Lavantegg and Obdach as part of the Styrian community structural reform . The new community continues the name “Obdach”.

St. Wolfgang-Kienberg is located approx. 15 km south of the district capital Judenburg in the eastern Seetal Alps .

The former community consisted of the only cadastral community Kienberg.
history
The political municipality of Kienberg was established in 1850. The name was changed to St. Wolfgang-Kienberg in 1963.
On January 1, 2015, the independent community was dissolved and incorporated into the market town of Obdach.

The municipal council, which was dissolved on December 31, 2014, consisted of nine members and, after the municipal council election in 2010, consisted of mandataries from the following parties: 6 ÖVP and 3 SPÖ .
The last mayor was Johann Amon (ÖVP).

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from June 1, 1999.

According to the 2001 census of workplaces , there were 8 workplaces with 18 employees in the municipality as well as 126 out-commuters and 9 in-commuters. There were 48 agricultural and forestry holdings (27 of which were the main occupation), which together farmed 1,754 hectares (as of 1999).
