Municipal council
A municipal council (also a municipal parliament ) can be found as a body in municipal matters (and also as a designation of its members) in almost all states. Generally, the chairperson is a community leader ( mayor ).
Depending on the status of the community it is also called the city council , local, market town rat and the like.
The municipal councils developed from the medieval city councils , which as a rule only represented the elite of the bourgeoisie and were only elected by them.
