Günselsdorf is a market town in Lower Austria in the Baden district .
geography
1710 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) live in the market town on an area of 6.61 km² . The place is east of Leobersdorf in the Vienna Basin on the Triesting . The majority of the municipal area, namely 500 hectares , is used for agriculture . A small part of viticulture can also be found here.

The road traffic artery is Wiener Neustädter Straße ( B 17 ). The Hainfelder Straße ( B 18 ) begins here. About this is after crossing from Leobersdorf motorway A2 to achieve and also the station Leobersdorf the Southern Railway , therefore, the two high-ranking arteries of both the individual and the public transport . In the eastern neighboring town of Teesdorf and the neighboring Tattendorf there are also boarding options for the Aspangbahn .

history
The place name derives from Guncinesdor and was mentioned for the first time in 1130 in the hall book of Klosterneuburg Abbey. The place was settled by the Babenbergers in the 11th and 12th centuries . The place suffered repeatedly from the invading Hungarians and later from the Turkish wars .
At today's intersection of the B17 and B18 there was a toll station until 1848. There was also a post office for changing horses there until 1847.
In the course of industrialization , a large cotton spinning mill was built on a specially constructed canal in 1847 , which in 1848 came to Nikolaus Dumba’s cousin , Theodor Dumba (1818–1880), who in 1849 received a simple factory license from the Schönau administration to produce cotton webs for Günselsdorf was awarded. After several changes of ownership, the plant existed until around 1965.

On the occasion of the census on the market town on June 25, 1968 the municipal coat of arms was awarded.
Blazon : In a blue shield there is a silver oblique left bar, covered with a golden (yellow) horn with a red - silver (white) tassel.
The horn is due to the old post office. The market flag colors blue-white-yellow are derived from the colors.

Sports clubs in Günselsdorf
The SC Günselsdorf has existed since 1911, and despite its small number of inhabitants (then approx. 800 inhabitants) made it into the Regionalliga Ost in 1962/63.
The 1st TC Günselsdorf has existed for over 20 years. Numerous women and men pursue the hobby partly in the championship competitions of the district south / east of the NÖTV. The youth work is under the cooperation with the TC Steinfeld (pure youth club) also on successful legs and has already produced some youth ranking players.
