Description of the process

Czech Republic

The E 59 (Silnice I / 38) near Moravské Budějovice

The route begins near Jihlava at the junction with the D1 motorway ( E50 / E65 ) and follows the course of the Silnice I / 38 via Moravské Budějovice and Znojmo to the state border with Austria near Chvalovice . The Czech section is being upgraded to an expressway with extensive measures and is thus in competition with the expansion of the Dálnice 52 Brno state border Austria and the planned extension to the A5 .

Austria

The Weinviertel expressway near Göllersdorf

The E59 then leads from the border at Kleinhaugsdorf via Weinviertler Straße B303 to Hollabrunn and the Weinviertel expressway S3 to Stockerau . From here it runs together with the E49 along the Danube bank A22 motorway to the Vienna - Kaisermühlen node . This is followed by the route on the Vienna Südosttangente A23 to the transition to the south motorway A2 at the Vienna- Inzersdorf junction . This follows the E59 to the Graz -West junction , where it changes to the Pyhrn Autobahn A9 and leads together with the E57 to the Spielfeld border crossing .

Slovenia

The Avtocesta A4 near Draženci

On the Slovenian side, the European road follows the Avtocesta A1 to the Slivnica junction south of Maribor , and then the Avtocesta A4 to Draženci . A further extension of the A4 to the Croatian border was opened in 2018. Until then, the E59 led over road 9.

Croatia

The Autocesta A2 at Đurmanec

The E59 leads here via the Autocesta A2 to the Jankomir junction near Zagreb , where it ends at the intersection with the Autocesta A3 ( E70 ).
