The European route 402 is an approx. 416 km long European route of the intermediate network, which connects the cities of Calais and Le Mans via Rouen in France . From Le Mans to Tours which forms Europastraße 502 continued.

The road follows the (toll) Autoroute A16 ( L'Européenne ) to Abbeville , then the (toll-free) Autoroute A28 ( Autoroute des Estuaires ) to Rouen , after crossing this city a short distance on the Autoroute A13 (together with the European route 5 ), continues on the (now toll) Autoroute A28 via Alençon and ends at Autoroute A11 ( Europastraße 50 ) north of Le Mans.
