The European route 653 (short: E 653 ) is a relatively short European route running from west to east . It runs from Maribor in Slovenia to Letenye in Hungary .
course
The E 653 begins north of Maribor at the Pekel motorway junction of the Avtocesta A1 (with European roads 57 and 59 ) on the Avtocesta A5 route. Along the southern shore of Lake Pernica , the E 653 passes Lenart and Vucja vas . The longest bridge in Slovenia then crosses the Mur and continues south of Murska Sobota to Lendava . The Slovenian-Hungarian border is crossed at Lendava-Pince (SLO) and Tornyiszentmiklós (H). The E 653 now remains on the Autópálya M70 . Through the Murtal, the E 653 reaches Letenye am Dreieck with the Autópálya M7 (also European roads 65 and 71 ) and ends there.
Trivia
The UN / ECE incorrectly intended the E 653 only for the Hungarian section (Letenye - Tornyiszentmiklós). Letenye is incorrectly located in Croatia on the UN / ECE map.
