  • Autópálya M7 ( Hungarian for 'M7 motorway') is a Hungarian motorway. It begins near Budapest and runs in a south-westerly direction past Siófok and ends at the Hungarian-Croatian border near Letenye . The M7 is directly continued there in the Croatian A4 motorway to Zagreb and Split , so that there is a continuous motorway connection from Budapest to Zagreb and on to Split. The total length of the M7 is 233 km. The M7 is the oldest motorway in Hungary.

Shortly before the Hungarian-Croatian border, near Letenye, there is the motorway triangle with the M70 motorway , which connects directly to the Slovenian motorway network ( A5 Lendava - Maribor motorway ). This section, like the entire M7, is heavily frequented by heavy goods vehicle traffic, as it is a good direct connection from East to West Europe.

In mid-August 2007, the longest viaduct in Central Europe ( Kőröshegyi völgyhíd ) was opened on the M7 near Kőröshegy ( small area Balatonföldvár ), closing a gap in this motorway that had existed up to that point. It has a total length of 1872 m and a height of 88 m and can be driven on at a maximum speed of 110 km / h. The speed is monitored by means of a radar system. The four-lane M7 motorway was completed on October 22, 2008.

By closing the gap in the M7 motorway in 2007, traffic on the local roads, especially heavy goods vehicles, on the western southern shore of Lake Balaton has decreased significantly.
