Autóút M25 is an expressway in Heves County in Hungary . The 18.5 km long road in the north of the country connects the Autópálya M3 , which runs from Budapest in the direction of Ukraine, to the city of Eger .
Construction work began in 2017. On November 7, 2018, the northern, four-kilometer section between Andornaktálya and Eger was opened to traffic. At the same time, the approximately 850-meter-long 252-es főút was opened, which connects the M25 with the 25-ös főút at the southern exit of Eger. Work on the southern section up to the Füzesabony triangle began in January 2018 and was completed in July 2020. A budget of 7.99 billion forints was earmarked for the northern section, 19.06 billion forints for the first southern section and 16.73 billion forints for the second southern section. In total, the construction costs were around 50 billion forints (around 140 million euros ).
The expressway was officially opened to its full length on July 20, 2020.
Before the M25 was built, Eger could only be reached from the M3 via the 25-ös főút or the 2501 road.
