4-es főút ( Hungarian for 'main street 4') is a Hungarian main street .
course
The road begins in Budapest and leads in a south-easterly direction via Monor , past Cegléd and Abony , bypasses the city of Szolnok to the south , crosses the Tisza and continues via Törökszentmiklós , Kisújszállás and Karcag to Püspökladány . Up to this point the road partially forms the planned, already under construction and in places already operational route of the Autópálya M4 motorway ( European route 60 ), which follows from here on 42-es főút to Romania . The 4-es főút (at the same time European route 79 and European route 573 ) now turns to the northeast and runs via Hajdúszoboszló , which is bypassed in the southeast, to Debrecen . From there it takes a northerly direction and leads via Hajdúhadház and Újfehértó to Nyíregyháza , where it turns again to the northeast. Past Kisvárda , it finally reaches Záhony and after this place the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, where it merges into the Ukrainian trunk road M 06 .
The total length of the road is 340 kilometers.
