Hajdúhadház is a Hungarian town and seat of the district Hajdúhadház in Hajdú-Bihar .
geography
Hajdúhadház extends over an area of 145.15 km². The city is located in the Észak-Alföld region (Northern Great Plain) .
history
The first written mention was made in 1312. During the Turkish occupation, many villages in the area were desolate.
On the basis of Stephan Bocskai's letter of protection dated December 12th, 1605, Heiducken could settle in Hadház .
In 1876 the city became part of Hajdú County . In 1891 the place lost its town charter and became a large municipality. From 1924 to 1934 the place again had city rights. On January 1, 1984, the town of Hadháztéglás was founded together with Téglás and renamed Hajdúhadháztéglás in 1987. On May 1, 1991, the two places became independent cities again.

In 2001, 89% of the population was Hungarian, while 11% said they belonged to the Roma population . Here is the largest Roma community in Hajdú-Bihar County.

The place has a train station on the line 100 ( Budapest - Szolnok - Debrecen - Nyíregyháza - Záhony ) and has a bypass of the national road 4 between Debrecen and Nyíregyháza.

- The town hall: The building was built in 1912 as a hotel.
- The Reformed Church: The neo-Romanesque building was built in 1872.
- Csokonai Művelődési Ház: The cultural center was built in 1912 as a bank building and given its current use in 1955.
