The Northern Great Plain ( Hungarian : Észak-Alföld ) is one of seven regions in Hungary on a NUTS 2 basis (code: HU32) . The region consists of the three counties

The largest cities in the Northern Great Plain are Debrecen , Szolnok and Nyíregyháza . The region has 1,492,502 inhabitants and with its 17,749 km² is the second largest Hungarian region after the southern Great Plain .

location

The region is located in the eastern part of Hungary and borders the states of Ukraine and Romania . The three neighboring regions are Northern Hungary in the north, Central Hungary in the west and the Southern Great Plain in the south.
