Southern Transdanubia ( Hungarian : Dél-Dunántúl ) is one of seven regions of Hungary on a NUTS 2 basis (code: HU23) and part of Transdanubia ( Latin: across the Danube ). The region consists of the three counties

The largest cities of southern Transdanubia are Pécs , Kaposvár and Szekszárd . The region has 947,986 inhabitants and an area of ​​14,169 km². It is also part of the Danube-Drau-Save Euroregion .

location

The region is located in the south-western part of Hungary and borders Croatia . The three neighboring regions are Central Transdanubia in the north, Western Transdanubia in the west and the Southern Great Plain in the east.
