Transdanubia
As Transdanubia ( "land beyond the Danube" to lat. Danubius "Danube") in are Hungary , the orographic right (south and west) of the Danube lying parts of the country called. The Hungarian name is Dunántúl .
The term includes the three western Hungarian regions of Western Transdanubia , Central and Southern Transdanubia as well as the parts of Pest County to the right of the Danube . The nine counties of Baranya , Fejér , Győr-Moson-Sopron , Komárom-Esztergom , Somogy , Tolna , Vas , Veszprém and Zala are located in these regions .
The opposite term Cisdanubia ("land this side of the Danube") is used less often. With this historical concept the north of the Danube lying parts of are the Kingdom of Hungary called, so Upper Hungary (essentially today's Slovakia ).
