Central Hungary
Central Hungary ( Hungarian : Közép-Magyarország ) is a Hungarian region at NUTS-1 and NUTS-2 level (code: HU1, H10) . The region consists of Pest County and the capital Budapest .
The region is the smallest of the statistical regions of Hungary (6,919 km²), but has the largest population (2,951,436).

The region is located in the northern part of Hungary and borders on Slovakia . The four neighboring regions are Northern Hungary and the Northern Great Plain in the east, the Southern Great Plain in the south and Central Transdanubia in the west.
