The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) is the professional association of paediatricians in England , Ireland , Scotland and Wales . The purpose is to monitor and control the training of paediatricians and to promote scientific and professional issues in pediatric medicine in the UK. The RCPCH also represents the interests of specialists in pediatric and adolescent medicine in terms of professional policy.

history

The RCPCH was founded in 1928 as the British Pediatric Association and the UK's first pediatric association. The first president was George Frederic Still . In 1996 the association was granted the status of "Royal College".

structure

The RCPCH claims to have 13,500 members from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. An entrance examination must be taken to become a member. It is divided into the following divisions.

President and Chief Executive's Office

The President oversees the work of the Royal College and ensures that the objectives set out in the College Strategy and Work Plan are achieved. Furthermore, he chairs the assemblies and organs of the RCPCH and represents the Royal College internally and externally.

Corporate Services Division

The Corporate Services Division is responsible for finance, insurance, IT management and the internal information system. The college archive is also managed here. Education and Training Division

The Education and Training Division is responsible for all matters relating to the education and training of paediatricians. She organizes and supervises the entrance and specialist exams.

Research and Policy Division

The Research and Policy Division develops educational programs for paediatricians and promotes the research and development of standards and guidelines in the field of paediatrics. In addition, statements and recommendations are published.

Communications Division

The Communications Division is responsible for member services and publications. She runs fundraising events . Furthermore, the collaboration is coordinated with the Royal Colleges of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
