Hajdúsámson (formerly Sámson ) is a Hungarian town in the district of Debrecen in Hajdú-Bihar .
geography
Hajdúsámson extends over an area of 69.47 km². The city is located 10 km northeast of Debrecen .
The districts of Martinka, Melegoldal, Oncsatelep and Sámsonkert belong to the city.
history
Sámson was founded at the time of the Árpáden . The name was first mentioned in 1213 in the Váradi Regestrum . In the 17th century the village came into the possession of the city of Debrecen, who financed the Reformed College (Református Kollégium) with the income from Sámson.
Originally the place belonged to Bihar County . With the administrative reform of 1876, Sámson came to the newly created Hajdú County . In 1907 the Bronze Age "Hajdúsámson Treasure" was found. It consists of 12 battle axes and ornamental swords that are exhibited in the Déri Museum .
In 2004 Hajdúsámson received town charter.
