The Debrecen District ( Debreceni járás in Hungarian ) is a district in the northeast of the eastern Hungarian Hajdú-Bihar County . Starting in the south, it borders on the following districts (clockwise): Derecske , Hajdúszoboszló , Balmazújváros , Hajdúböszörmény , Hajdúhadház , Nagykálló ( Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County ) and Nyíradony .

history

The district was created during the administrative reform in early 2013 from its predecessor, the Debrecen small area ( Debreceni kistérség in Hungarian ). The municipality of Mikepercs was transferred to the district of Derecske , but the municipality of Hajdúsámson from the small area Hajdúhadház came as a territorial compensation . The area growth was limited at around 5%.
