Berettyóújfalu (Hungarian Berettyóújfalui járás ) is a district in the south of Hajdú-Bihar County in eastern Hungary . It borders Békés County in the south and south-west and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County in the north-west . In the west the Püspökladány district forms the inner border, in the north Derecske . In the east, the district has 5 border municipalities to the neighboring state of Romania ( Judet Bihor ).

history

The circle was created in early 2013 as a successor from the small area of the same name (Hungarian Berettyóújfalui kistérség ). The small area gave 4 of the 29 municipalities to the newly created, northern district of Derecske . This corresponded to about 12% of the original area and population of the small area.
