Berettyóújfalu (German Brettenbach ) is a town in the small area Berettyóújfalu in Hajdú-Bihar County in eastern Hungary . The city is named after the 167.3 km long Berettyó River . 15,317 inhabitants live in an area of 170.98 km² (as of 2011).
geography
The Derecskei-Kálló, which joins the Konyári-Kálló to the Kék-Kálló in the municipality, serves as a natural border to the neighboring municipality of Tépe , and the Keleti Canal flows through the municipality . Berettyóújfalu borders on the following municipalities:

history
The first human settlements are assigned to the Körös culture . The area has been inhabited since ancient times, and numerous artefacts from the Late Bronze Age have been found in the urban settlement area .
