Zoltán Mácsai

Zoltán Mácsai (born 1985 in Berettyóújfalu ) is a Hungarian horn player . Since 2016 he has been principal horn of the Saxon State Orchestra Dresden .

life and work

Mácsai completed his horn studies in Budapest - there with Palma Szilagyi - and then until 2010 with Marie-Luise Neunecker at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. He also took master classes with Peter Damm , Günter Högner, and Willi Schwaiger, among others .

From 2003 to 2008 he was hired as principal horn for concerts with the Ernõ Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra in Budapest. From 2008 to 2016 he was the solo horn player with the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra. Since 2016 he has been solo horn with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. As a solo horn player he was a guest of the Bavarian State Orchestra , the Munich Philharmonic , Concerto Köln and Capella Andrea Barca.

He made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2012 as part of a Mozart matinee with the conductor Michael Gielen . A series of solo concerts took the musician to Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Croatia and Switzerland.

A first solo CD was created in collaboration with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic .
