Mozart matinees at the Salzburg Festival 2012 to 2016
The Mozart matinees of the Salzburg Festival represent a specific concert format, traditionally take place in the mornings on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays - at 11 a.m. - during the festival time and are performed jointly by the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra , well-known conductors, vocal and instrumental soloists from all over the world disputed. The place of performance is the Great Hall of the Mozarteum .
The program selection during the directorship of Alexander Pereira (2012–2014) focused on important works by the namesake, but also made dialogical references to contemporaries and forerunners of Mozart on the one hand and to contemporary works on the other. This resulted in a series of comparisons: in 2012 Dallapiccola's Piccola musica notturna with the Little Night Music , in 2013 the Requiem for strings by Tōru Takemitsu , a Japanese composer of the 20th century, with Mozart's Requiem , and in 2014 Haydn's 39th Symphony with the 25th Mozart's Symphony - both in G minor .
In 2012 and 2013 new works by Georg Friedrich Haas , Heinz Holliger and Gerhard Wimberger were premiered during the matinees. The conductors included musicians such as Hans Graf or Ivor Bolton , original sound experts such as Christopher Hogwood or Marc Minkowski , but also conductors who mainly devote themselves to contemporary music, such as Michael Gielen and Ingo Metzmacher .
In 2014 Mozart's Coronation Mass and Michael Haydn's Franziskus Mass were performed, the C major symphony , Tchaikovsky's Mozartiana and Beethoven's Eroica were juxtaposed in a program , and works by Haydn and Gluck were integrated into the program. In 2014 the conductors Vladimir Fedoseyev and Manfred Honeck made their debut at the Mozart-Martineen, 2015 Andrés Orozco-Estrada , 2016 Constantinos Carydis .
