Hanno Müller-Brachmann

Hanno Müller-Brachmann (* 1970 in Cologne ) is a German opera and concert singer ( bass baritone ).

Life

Müller-Brachmann, who grew up in Lörrach , took his first musical steps in the Knabenkantorei Basel , where his special musical talent was noticed early on. He started studying vocal pedagogy in Freiburg im Breisgau with Ingeborg Most . He then attended Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau's lieder class in Berlin , supported by scholarships from the German National Academic Foundation and the Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker . He passed his concert diploma with the title role of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's oratorio Elias after studying with Rudolf Piernay in Mannheim . In 1995, Müller-Brachmann won 2nd prize in the Bertelsmann Stiftung's New Voices International Singing Competition .

Discovered by Daniel Barenboim , he came to the Berlin State Opera as a young singer , where he was able to develop a broad repertoire and embodied roles such as Masetto and Leporello in Don Giovanni , Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro , Guglielmo in Così fan tutte , Kaspar in Der Freischütz , Escamillo in Carmen and many more. Hanno Müller-Brachmann has made guest appearances in Salzburg, San Francisco, Munich, Vienna and Modena, among others. Until the end of 2011 he was a member of the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden. His work as a concert and lied singer takes him to the most important concert halls in the world alongside many of the most interesting musical personalities of our time.

From 2006 to 2011 Hanno Müller-Brachmann also taught singing as a major at the Hanns Eisler University of Music and was chairman of the National Singing Competition from 2008–2011. V., of which he is a member of the board today. He is also a member of the jury at the Leipzig International Bach Competition and the international “Schubert and Modernity” competition in Graz. In the 2011/2012 winter semester he took over a professorship for singing at the Karlsruhe University of Music . Hanno Müller-Brachmann is married and lives in Karlsruhe with his wife and three children.

Honors and prizes

  • In 1992 he received first prize in the national singing competition in the junior competition.
  • In 1994 he received first prize in the national concert singing competition.
  • In 1995 he received the first prize at the "Mastersingers Competition Nuremberg".
  • In 1995 Müller-Brachmann was awarded the Brahms Prize of the Brahms Society Schleswig-Holstein based in Heide .
  • In 1996 he received second prize at the ARD international music competition in Munich.
