Riccardo Terzo (* 1990 in Palermo ) is an Italian bassoonist .

Life

Terzo was born in Palermo to a singer and a bassoonist. He began to play the piano at the age of five and learned bassoon from Maurizio Barigione from seven. Terzo completed his piano diploma in Palermo and completed his bassoon master's degree with honors from Marco Postinghel at the Mozarteum in 2006 . He then studied in Munich at the University of Music and Theater under Dag Jensen and, since 2014, at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Stephan Turnovsky.

Career

At 17, Terzo began playing in the youth orchestra of the European Union . In the same year he was accepted into the Giovanile Luigi Cherubini Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra . In 2010 Terzo became principal bassoonist of the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra . He has held this position with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra since 2018 . He plays at the Teatro Regio in Turin , with the DR (Danish Radio Orchestra) with the Munich Philharmonic and at the Vienna State Opera .

Terzo's repertoire offers pieces by Vivaldi , Mozart , Hummel , Weber , Jolivet and Rossini as well as the two concertante symphonies by Mozart (Salzburg Festival) and Haydn . He performed at the 6th International Chamber Music Festival in Zagreb in 2011 and played with the Salzburg Orchestra Soloists and the Trio Fagott Salzburg.

Terzo has performed as a soloist in many countries such as Italy , Germany , Austria , Japan , Korea and North America . He gives masterclasses at Anton Bruckner University in Linz, the Danish Royal Academy, Hong Kong University , Shanghai University and in Japan for Nonaka Boeki.

In 2019 he was in the show Stars of Tomorrow - presented by Rolando Villazón .
