International Double Reed Society

The International Double Reed Society (IDRS) is a worldwide organization based in Finksburg , Maryland .

It was founded in 1971 and represents the interests of musicians and instrument makers of double reed instruments ( oboe and bassoon ). There are 4,400 members in 56 countries. Every year she organizes conferences and competitions (including the Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox Competition, which has been endowed with $ 10,000 since 1979 ). The company also publishes The Double Reed magazine.
