Dag Jensen

Dag Jensen (* 1964 in Horten , Norway ) is a Norwegian bassoonist , chamber musician and university professor.

Life

At the age of eleven, Jensen received his first bassoon lessons from Robert Rønnes. He then studied with Torleiv Nedberg at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. At the age of 16 he got his first job as a contrabassoonist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, where after a short time he took over the position of deputy bassoonist. In addition to his orchestral work, he studied with Klaus Thunemann at the Hanover Music Academy.

Further stations in the orchestra were from 1985 to 1988 solo bassoonist with the Bamberg Symphony and from 1988 to 1997 in the same position with the WDR Rundfunk Orchester Köln . In 2003 he was principal bassoonist in the newly founded Lucerne Festival Orchestra under Claudio Abbado . In addition, Seiji Ozawa brought him to the Saito Kinen Festival Orchestra as principal bassoonist.

In Germany Jensen played as a soloist with many orchestras, u. a. with the radio symphony orchestras in Munich, Stuttgart and Cologne as well as with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. He is also a sought-after soloist abroad. He is u. a. performed with the Camerata Academica Salzburg under Sándor Végh , with the Mito Chamber Orchestra under Seiji Ozawa and with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra under Iona Brown .

He is a member of the "Bläserensemble Sabine Meyer" and the " Ensemble Villa Musica ". He is also a guest at numerous renowned chamber music festivals in Germany and abroad.

In 1997 he was appointed professor at the Hanover University of Music and Theater . In 2011 he was appointed professor at the University of Music and Theater in Munich .
