Klaus Thunemann

Klaus Thunemann (born April 19, 1937 in Magdeburg ) is a German bassoonist .

After studying at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin with Willy Fugmann , he received engagements as solo bassoonist with the Münster Symphony Orchestra and, between 1962 and 1978, with the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg . At the 14th ARD International Music Competition in 1965, he won the bassoon prize. After teaching at the Hanover University of Music and Drama since 1978, he became a professor at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin in 1997 . During his time as a professor, Thunemann enabled countless students to hold important positions in orchestras at home and abroad ( Berlin Philharmonic , Concertgebouw Orchestra , Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and many others). In the summer of 2005 he retired. Since 2008 he has been a professor at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid. At the Barenboim Said Academy he is a professor of chamber music on the teaching staff.

Thunemann worked as a soloist with all the major conductors and orchestras and as a chamber musician with artists such as Heinz Holliger and András Schiff . There are numerous recordings by him; In 1974 he also worked in the field of jazz ( Michael Naura Vanessa ). In 2006 Klaus Thunemann received the Federal Cross of Merit for his many years of work as an artist and teacher .

His students include Sergio Azzolini , Nikolaus Maler and Stefan Schweigert .
