Peter Sonn

Peter Sonn (* 1976 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Peter Sonn studied music and performing arts at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Dale Fundling. His first engagements took him to Coburg , Innsbruck , Munich and Zurich , where he was also a member of the ensemble. In the meantime he is mainly active as a freelancer, for example at the Frankfurt Opera and the Hamburg State Opera , the Scala in Milan and the Salzburg Festival . In addition to his lyrical repertoire, Sonn 2015 interpreted a heroic role as well as his first Marschner role for the first time with Konrad at the Theater an der Wien .

Sonn sang under the musical direction of Marc Albrecht , Christoph von Dohnányi , Vladimir Fedoseyev , Daniele Gatti , Michael Gielen , Marek Janowski , Philippe Jordan , Riccardo Muti , Ulf Schirmer , Peter Schneider , Jeffrey Tate , Christian Thielemann and Franz Welser-Möst .

Concert repertoire

Sonn is also active as a concert singer and sang sacred works by Mozart , Handel , Beethoven , Anton Bruckner (Te Deum) and Benjamin Britten . As a lieder singer, he was an interpreter of Beethoven, Vincenzo Bellini , Bononcini , Donizetti , Mozart, Pergolesi , Scarlatti , Franz Schubert , Robert Schumann and Tchaikovsky .

Recordings

Walther im Tannhäuser Sonn also sang in a concert performance in the Berlin Philharmonie , which was released on DVD, and his David in the Meistersingern (Salzburg) is also recorded on DVD.
