Elena Moșuc (born January 18, 1964 in Iași ) is a Romanian opera singer (lyrical coloratura soprano ).

Life

Moșuc studied at the College of Art and Singing and the George Enescu Conservatory in her hometown of Iași. To earn her studies, she worked as a primary school teacher. Before completing her studies , she made her debut at the Opera of Iași as “Queen of the Night” in the Magic Flute and sang the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor , “Gilda” in Rigoletto and “Violetta” in La traviata .

In 1990 she won first prize at the International ARD Music Competition in Munich and in 1993 the European Music Prize . In 1995 Moșuc received the Premio Bellini d'Oro in Catania , the Premio Zenatello di Verona in 2001 and the Premio Verdi di Modena in 2004 . In 2005 she received the Order of Officers as the highest musical award in the country from the Romanian President .

Elena Moșuc has been an ensemble member of the Zurich Opera House since the 1991/92 season . In addition to those mentioned above, her brilliant roles include “Konstanze” in Die Entführung aus dem Serail , “Olympia-Antonia-Giulietta-Stella” in Hoffmann's stories , “Amina” in Bellini's La sonnambula , “Micaela” in Carmen and Lucia , die identified them as their key role.

Elena Moșuc is a regular guest - both as a bel canto heroin and as an interpreter of various Mozart roles for dramatic coloratura soprano - in all of the world's major opera houses. She sang under conductors such as Christoph von Dohnányi , Vladimir Fedoseyev , Ádám Fischer , Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Marcello Viotti and Franz Welser-Möst . As a concert singer, she works with Colin Davis , Eliahu Inbal and David Zinman .

In July 2007 Elena Moșuc made her debut as “Violetta” at La Scala in Milan .

Discography

Her discography includes the solo album Au jardin de mon cœur , a portrait of Mozart, a recording with Handel's arias (with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra under Howard Griffiths ) and Notre Amour with songs from her homeland. In 2016 she released the production L Amore e Poesia - Vocalises for Soprano and Orchestra with works by the composer Flavio Motalla on Solo Musica.
