Renaud Capuçon (born January 27, 1976 in Chambéry ) is a French violinist and chamber musician .

Life

Renaud Capuçon was accepted into the class of Gérard Poulet at the Paris Conservatory at the age of 14 . Three years later he was able to successfully complete his studies in violin and chamber music. Other teachers were Thomas Brandis and Isaac Stern . Renaud Capuçon's discography includes recordings with his brother Gautier, for example in the double concerto op. 102 by Johannes Brahms , and Frank Braley . He regularly gives concerts with Braley in chamber music projects. He also appears regularly as a soloist in major concert halls around the world. From 2006 to 2010 he was an exclusive artist at the Konzerthaus Dortmund. Since 2014 he has been professor of violin at the Haute École de Musique in Lausanne . In 2016 he played at the annual national holiday concert in Vienna.

The younger brother of Renaud Capuçon is the cellist Gautier Capuçon .

Renaud Capuçon plays a Guarneri del Gesù "Panette" violin from 1737, which previously belonged to Isaac Stern and was bought by Banca Svizzera Italiana for Renaud Capuçon.
