Hermann Paar (born April 4, 1954 in Völklingen ) is a German basketball coach . The couple was the national coach of the German women's national team from March 2017 to September 2018.

career

Paar worked in healthcare until 1990 and then for a media company until 1993. At the same time, he was coach of the men's team at BBF Dillingen between 1979 and 1991 (until 1989 as a player- coach ) and in 1990 led the team to promotion to the 2nd basketball league .

In 1991 he went to TV 1872 Saarlouis as a trainer . There he first trained the women's and men's teams of the club, but then concentrated on his role in the women's team. Under Paar's leadership they were promoted to the women's basketball league , in 2000 the Saarland women made it into the playoffs for the first time and entered the European club competition Ronchetti Cup in the 2000/01 season . In addition to his work as a trainer, Paar also worked in Saarlouis in the administrative and conceptual area.

In the 2001/02 season, Paar was on the staff of Gold Zack Wuppertal  , where he was responsible in particular for individual training. Wuppertal won the German championship and the cup competition this season. In the summer of 2002 he was the head coach of the German U20 women’s national team and looked after them at the European Championship.

From 2002 to 2015, Paar worked in various functions and offices for the Luxembourg basketball association. Among other things, he was head coach of the women's national team as well as the junior national teams and technical director.

In the 2015/16 season, Paar moved to the German second division BG 74 Göttingen as a coach , and in the 2016/17 season he took over the coaching position at Bundesliga club TV Saarlouis. In March 2017, Paar was also appointed national coach of the German women's national team. In December 2017 he was released in Saarlouis. For the 2018/19 season, Paar moved back to Luxembourg to take over the women's first division club BBC Gréngewald Hueschtert. He resigned from his position as national coach of the German women's national team in September 2018 for health reasons.
