Balmazújváros (Hungarian Balmazújvárosi járás ) is a district in the west of Hajdú-Bihar County in eastern Hungary . It borders on the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County in the southwest and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County in the northwest . In the north, the Hajdúnánás district forms the inner border, in the northeast Hajdúböszörmény and in the south Hajdúszoboszló .
history
The district was created in early 2013 as the successor to the small area of the same name (Hungarian Balmazújvárosi kistérség ), which was expanded to include the municipality of Újszentmargita from the small area Polgár (Hungarian Polgári kistérség ), which was dissolved at the end of 2012 .
