The small area Debrecen ( Hungarian Debreceni kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) in the center of Hajdú-Bihar county in the Northern Great Plain until the end of 2012 . In the course of the administrative reform, a territorial exchange took place in early 2013. The village of Mikepércs moved to the district of Derecske , for this purpose the town of Hajdúsámson came from the small area Hajdúhadház in the subsequent district of Debrecen ( Debreceni járás in Hungarian ).

At the end of 2012, there were 208,738 inhabitants in an area of ​​498.58 km². The population density of the most populous small area was 419 inhabitants / km².

The administrative seat was in the county capital Debrecen (204.333 Ew.), Which also had county rights (Hungarian megyei jogú város ).
