Autópálya M87 ( Hungarian for 'Autobahn M87'), also called Günser Schnellstraße ( Hungarian Gyorsforgalmi út ), is a planned expressway in Hungary . It will begin in Szombathely at the Steinamanger expressway M86 and should end at Kőszeg on the border with Austria . The M86 was opened to Szombathely in 2014.
history
Since 2003, the new main road - called Günser Schnellstraße since 2008 - was planned as a new four-lane building. On October 15, 2014, it was agreed in Budapest that the M87 (also M8, M85) would be implemented to the limit by 2020.
The route variant was completed in 2018. The environmental impact assessment procedure for the Szombathely – Kőszeg section was completed in November 2019. Between 2021 and 2025, between the Szombathely junction and the Kőszeg junction, four-lane 14 km long road with central separation and at a design speed of 110 km / h is to be built. From the Kőszeg junction to the border, a two-lane road was built over a length of 5 km.
On the Austrian side, the M87 is continued by the new Günser Straße B 61a, which has been under construction since September 22, 2014, to Oberpullendorf and from there via the Burgenland expressway S 31 towards Eisenstadt .
