history

Malý Chlum quarry

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1360. In the 14th century, Vít Spík von Obora was one of the owners who changed many times. His coat of arms - a silver shield with a black roof - can be found in today's municipal coat of arms. At the beginning of the 16th century Obora was attached to the Boskovice rule. To the west of the village, alum, saltpeter and coal were mined. In the 17th century an alum boiling plant was established on the site of the Huť svaté Antonie settlement. The parish has always been Doubravice nad Svitavou.

After the abolition of patrimonial Obora formed with the district Huť svaté Antonie from 1850 a municipality in the district authority Boskovice. On the Velký Chlum, Stanislav Rolínek erected several sandstone figures of Hussite fighters before he started work on the cave of the sleeping knights from Blaník near Rudka in 1929. At the beginning of 1939, the preparatory work for the construction of the Reichsautobahn Vienna-Breslau was carried out west of the village . According to the first plans, both Chlumhügel should be removed for this. Since this project proved to be impracticable, the alignment was made west of the hill. After the route had been largely completed, work was stopped in 1942 due to the changed war situation. After the dissolution of Okres Boskovice, the municipality came to Okres Blansko at the beginning of 1961 . Obora has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2001. Several birch-clad heaps testify to the earlier mining activity between Obora and the two Chlum.

Obora became important as a paleontological site. Some of the fossilized fossils found were given the name Oboria .
